Daybed are also terrific places for hanging out and cuddling with your dog…just wait until you see the look in their eyes when you invite them up into your outdoor bed.

5. What Are Loft Nets or Floor Hammocks?

+

Loft Nets and floor hammocks are often used interchangeably. A loft net is a suspended platform installed within a home’s upper level or attic space. It functions as a lounge area, reading nook, or indoor hammock alternative. Modern homeowners love loft nets for their open-concept feel and space-maximizing design.

6. What Are Treehouse Nets?

+

Treehouse nets are essentially loft nets that are outside in a treehouse type of space. They are a great place to relax, play, & enjoy your view of the tree canopy.

7. Are These Net Solutions Suitable for Both Indoor and Outdoor Applications?

+

Absolutely. Our architectural nets are designed to excel in indoor lofts, treehouses, exterior dock spaces, and overwater platforms. They’re engineered to withstand high UV, humidity, and their intended loads.

8. Can I Use a Net Hammock on My Existing Dock?

+

Very often, yes, although your dock may require some modification. We provide custom dock nets and overwater hammock solutions that can be installed on many dock frameworks. Our team can guide you through measuring and installation to ensure a secure fit and we are glad to interface with your dock builder to help design the optimal space for you.

9. What Is the Weight Capacity of These Net Systems?

+

Our architectural netting can support substantial loads. We have tested some designs to 2,000 pounds and they had plenty of remaining strength, however, most of our architectural nets will have ratings of 500 – 1,000 pounds for safe use. For exact load ratings, share your design specs, and we’ll recommend the ideal net solution.

10. How Do I Design the Frame?

+

For frame design & characteristics we would recommend that you review our frame design page for architectural nets. The starting point for a successful net install is a good frame design that is stiff enough to resist the net tension. If you have any questions our netting engineers will be glad to help.

11. How Much Will an Architectural Net Cost?

+

The price of the net will depend on complexity, size, & materials chosen so you’d really need to get a custom quote to get an exact price. That said, a typical rectangular dock net will run $1,500 - $3,500. A great generic example would be a king size tensioned net in 3/8” Offshore (a very enjoyable size & our most popular material) which would run about $1,800 including the full installation kit.

12. Are Sunrise Nets Cheap?

+

No. And No. If you want the least expensive nets, we are not the place for you. We want you to enjoy what we make for a long, long time so we only make & ship nets we can be proud of. That said, we work very hard to offer the best long-term value taking into account your safety, the aesthetics, & the long term-durability of our products. There is little as unsatisfying as a cheap net that falls apart so you can’t use it.

13. How Do I Maintain and Clean Architectural Nets?

+

Routinely remove debris and rinse with fresh water. For tougher stains, use mild soap and a soft-bristle brush. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that can compromise the net’s UV coating and overall strength.

14. Can a Loft Net Replace a Traditional Floor or Balcony Railing?

+

Yes, if it’s engineered for safety. Our loft nets serve as either a full floor replacement in certain areas or a vertical safety barrier. Always ensure it meets local building codes and safety standards.

15. Are Treehouse Nets Safe for Children and Pets?

+

Yes. Our treehouse nets are made from high-tensile netting with child-safe mesh openings. Installation guides emphasize proper tensioning and secure anchor points to ensure maximum safety for kids and pets.

16. What Are Common Uses for Treehouse Nets?

+

Treehouse nets serve as elevated hammocks, play areas, or safety barriers around platforms. They offer a unique viewpoint of the surrounding landscape and give kids and adults a fun, secure place to explore.

+

18. How Do I Install My Dock Net or Overwater Hammock?

+

+

Yes. Our nets are suitable for public spaces, restaurants, beach clubs, and hotel resorts. Always confirm local building codes and safety regulations for commercial installations.

21. How Long Do These Architectural Nets Typically Last?

+

With regular cleaning, proper tensioning, and protection from excessive wear, our nets can last 5 to 10 years or longer. The majority of our 3/8” Offshore line of nets will still be going strong in 12+ years even in high UV.

22. Is a Permit Required for Installing a Residential Loft Net or Overwater Hammock?

+

Permit requirements differ by municipality. Larger or load-bearing installations may require engineering reviews or building permits. Check local guidelines or consult a professional contractor to confirm.

23. Does a Dock Net Count Against My Dock’s Square Footage?

+

In short, maybe. Most of our nets let well over half the light pass through to the seagrass below. Because netting is gradually becoming more common some areas are standardizing their regulations but it tend s to be on a location by location basis.

24. Do You Provide Installation Services or Only Supply the Nets?

+

We primarily supply custom nets and hardware. However, in some cases we can recommend reputable installation specialists in your area and we always provide remote support and guidance for DIY or contractor-led projects. If you are local to us in Florida, we often have our own installation teams available to help.

25. What Net Designs Can I Make?

+

If you can imagine it, there’s a good chance we can build it. That said, there are several standard designs.

  • Rectangular nets are framed as a square or rectangle with framework to lace the net to on all 4 sides.

  • Three-sided nets have framework on 3 sides with 1 open side that is supported by a Dyneema Internal Tension line for seamless path to the water.

  • Triangle Nets are typically built into a right triangle with a the hypotenuse forced by an internal Dyneema Tension Line for the seamless transition to water.

We can make nets with straight or curved sides (although curved sides will add cost) and can accommodate piling cutouts or cornet cutbacks as necessary for the design.

26. Do You Offer a Warranty on Architectural Nets?

+

Oh yeah. We offer the World’s Best Netting Warranty. If you want to know if a company believes in their netting take a look at their warranty and compare it to ours!

27. Can I Add Branding or Custom Colors to My Net?

+

Because we coat the nets ourselves we can offer them in a variety of colors. In special cases we can do multi-colored nets or stencil large format designs directly onto the net. Let us know your design goals when requesting a quote.

28. How Should I Think About Color?

+

The darkness of your net’s color is important for several reasons. First, darker colors are the easiest to maintain as stains or sahara dust become invisible on the net. Second, darker colors are easier to see through (somewhat surprisingly) so if you want to see through your net as easily as possible it is generally best to go dark. Bright colors, however, can be a lot of fun and liven a space up so don’t discount them if your design calls for it!
